Gen Con Indy 2009 is fast approaching and it’s time to determine who will be crowned the 2009 Legends of Norrath Champion!

SOE has scheduled four Legends of Norrath Championship Qualifier events. The first Championship Qualifier is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th at approximately 10:00 AM PT. Each of these two-day Championship Qualifier events will feature the best and brightest Legends of Norrath players, as they compete for their share of an approximately $3,800 USD prize pool and a seat at the Legends of Norrath World Championship Tournament at Gen Con Indy 2009!

Day one of each Legends of Norrath Championship Qualifier will consist of multiple tournaments, organized according to Standard Constructed Match Play (best 2 of 3 games) Swiss tournament format. The top 16 players from day one of each Championship Qualifier event will move on to day two. Day two will consist of a single tournament that features the top 16 players from day one, organized according to Standard Constructed Match Play (best 2-3 games) Swiss tournament format. At the end of four rounds of gameplay, the top two players will face off in a single winner-take-all Match Play (best 2-3 games) final to determine the Championship Qualifier winner! This year, both of the top two players from each Championship Qualifier will win a trip to the Legends of Norrath World Championship Tournament at Gen Con Indy 2009!

Legends of Norrath 2009 World Championship Qualifier Tournaments

Format/Deck: Standard Constructed Match Play (best 2-3 games)

Prize Schedule:

  • 1st Place:
    $500, one entrance permit to Gen Con Indy 2009, a “bye” into the final day of the Legends of Norrath 2009 World Championship Tournament, a round-trip, coach airline ticket to Gen Con Indy 2009, standard hotel accommodations, and ground transportation to and from the Indianapolis airport.
  • 2nd Place:
    $200, one entrance permit to Gen Con Indy 2009, a “bye” into the final day of the Legends of Norrath 2009 World Championship Tournament, a round-trip, coach airline ticket to Gen Con Indy 2009, standard hotel accommodations, and ground transportation to and from the Indianapolis airport.
  • 3rd & 4th Place:
    $100, and 1 Legends of Norrath booster box.
  • 5th – 8th Place:
    1 Legends of Norrath booster box.
  • 9th – 16th Place:
    10 Legends of Norrath booster packs.

Once a player qualifies for the Legends of Norrath 2009 World Championship Tournament through a qualifier event, that player may not participate in any other qualifying event (a player may only qualify for the World Championship Tournament only one time and using only one account). Additionally, each player may only enter a qualifying event and/or the World Championship Tournament using one account.

At Gen Con Indy 2009, players will compete for their share of the $25,000 prize purse and other fame and glory!

Legends of Norrath Gen Con Indy 2009 World Championship Qualifier Tournaments

If you have not already qualified for the final event slated to be held on August 15, you will still have opportunities at Gen Con Indy 2009 to get a seat. SOE has scheduled Championship Qualifier events slated to be held on Thursday and Friday, August 13 and 14 at Gen Con Indy 2009. The top two players from each event will win a seat in the $25,000 Championship event on Saturday. The events will begin at 10:00 AM EST and will run throughout the day. Simply report to the SOE area in the tournament hall, get your name on the list and wait for your chance to be seated. These single elimination events will fill up fast so be sure and get your name in early.

Legends of Norrath World Championship Tournament

The final event will take place on Saturday, August 15th with 8-round, swiss style gameplay. To participate, you must have qualified in a monthly Championship Qualifier event or the Championship Qualifier events held at Gen Con Indy 2009. Prize Schedule:

  • 1st Place: $10,000, 1st place trophy, a full Legends of Norrath set*, likeness on a Legends of Norrath card
  • 2nd Place: $5,000, 2nd place trophy, a full Legends of Norrath set*, likeness on a Legends of Norrath card
  • 3rd – 4th Place: $1000, likeness on a Legends of Norrath card
  • 5th – 8th Place: $500
  • 9th – 16th Place: $250, 20 Legends of Norrath booster packs
  • 17th – 32nd Place: $250, 10 Legends of Norrath booster packs

Each player in the top 32 will also receive a “Choose Your Loot” card from any LON set of their choice.

Total Prize Purse: $25,000

*A full set of any one Legends of Norrath expansion, excluding loot cards.
