Avatar-Based Game: Each player controls an avatar that represents his or her legendary hero of Norrath.

  • Avatars have different attributes and actions in their game text.
  • Players can choose to use the provided starter deck avatars.
  • Players can create their own uniquely-named avatars.
  • Each avatar is one of four archetypes (fighter, mage, priest, scout) which defines which cards can be included in a deck.

Multiple Paths to Victory: There are three different ways to win the game.

  • Eliminate your opponent's avatar in combat.
  • Be the first player to finish four quests.

Ability Cards: These allow your avatar to embark on quests and perform heroic actions.

  • They are applied at quests to place level tokens. Once you have enough level tokens at a quest, you complete it.
  • They usually have a defense attribute to protect your avatar in combat. However, if you use an ability for defense, you can't use it to place level tokens during your next quest phase.

Unit Cards These cards provide much of the atmospheric flavor for each game. They are the residents of Norrath that your legendary hero will muster to his or her service.

  • Used to launch raids against the opponent and provide much of the combat action in the game.
  • Units can also defend during a quest your opponent's quest phase.
  • Represent various power levels of creatures of Norrath, from Gnolls to Griffons to powerful, unique dragons such as Lord Nagafen.
  • Can also represent legendary personalities such as Firiona Vie or Lucan D'Lere.

More Card Types: There are a few more card types available to fill out your decks.

  • Items represent weapons, armor, and other equipment that help your avatar complete his or her journey.
  • Tactics surprise your opponent in the middle of a combat.
  • Quests are chosen by each player to provide a different landscape for each game.

Fair and Balanced Resource System: Each player automatically receives power to spend on buying cards.

  • Each player receives 3 power at the beginning of each turn, plus 1 additional power for each quest that has been completed by any player . No player will fall behind on resources.
  • No need to stock your deck with resource cards, but you can add additional power generating cards if you like.
  • Players build decks with low-cost cards for the early game, but also add high-cost, powerful cards for the late game.
  • Low-level quests appear early, and are easier to complete than the high-level quests that enter play later in the game.

Single-Player and Multiplayer

  • There are over thirty single-player scenarios that tell the story of your legendary Norrathian hero in battles against dangerous enemies.
  • Single-player skirmish mode lets you test your decks against a virtual sparring partner.
  • Multiplayer formats include 2-versus-2 team format; 2-versus-1 and 4-versus-1 raids against a computer raid boss; or host your own raid by collecting raid deck cards.
